Workshop - Kite Making

风筝

The history of Chinese kite-making spans over 2,300 years. Flying a kite forms part of entertainment, festival, customs and science in China. There are many festivals with kite flying competitions.  These competitions are a huge science challenge and also involve great aptitude in art form and hand on skills.  They are very popular among the young Chinese, who enjoy taking part in these competitions.

It is very recreational and scientific to make a kite fly.  Students first have to decide whether to work on a scientific kite or an art form kite.  They learn how to choose effective materials and design patterns and how to build up patience and concentration. Kite-Making is a very creative activity and fun for all ages!
